Davis Richard Delano Davis, age 81, of Grove City, passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2016. He was born on January 30, 1935 in Grove City, Ohio to Cecile Barber Davis and Grover Cleveland Davis. Serving as his class vice president, Richard graduated from Grove City High School in 1953. He attended The Ohio State and Franklin Universities. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division from 1958-1960 stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany. Preceded in death by his son Bart Davis and brother Wayne Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce (Morris) Davis; daughter, Mindy Davis (Tom Linzell); son, Brad Davis (Roth Weaver); sister-in-law, Joann Ford (Larry Ford); and niece, Sandra Hateley (Robert Hateley). As a State of Ohio Tax Administrator, he retired after 31 years of service at the age of 51. He was a longtime active member of The First Presbyterian Church of Grove City, Ohio. He was also a member of the Grove City Masonic Lodge #689. Richard and his wife were adventurous travelers. They visited over 60 countries on 6 continents. Germany was their favorite place. He enjoyed heading his high school class reunion committee for many years. As an avid walker, he was often spotted making his rounds throughout his community. Richard was referred to as the "Grove City Walker!" The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Richard's name to The First Presbyterian Church of Grove City, 4227 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 9:30-11 a.m. at The First Presbyterian Church. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Tolar, Jr. at the church at 11 a.m. In addition to the staff at Mount Carmel West Hospital, The Zangmeister Group, Meadow Grove Transitional Care Center (Grove City) and the "Angels" at Mount Carmel Hospice, the family wishes to thank their numerous and devoted friends for their support, love, fellowship and prayers.
