Colwell, Richard EarlNo farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye, you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why…Richard Earl Colwell, 72, of Nichols, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 20, 2016. Dick was born on February 26, 1944 in Sayre, Pa, a son of the late Edwin and Ruth (Coleman) Colwell. He was a graduate of Athens High School class of 1962. Following high school Dick worked on the family farm and then for Ingersoll Rand. In 1967, he started his career with IBM and there he worked for eleven years. His greatest love was being a truck driver as an owner/operator and working for various companies such as Schneider Bulk Lines, Gray and Gray Trucking, Agway and he retired from Agway Suburban-Propane in 2009. Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing; family trips to the cottage at Sandy Pond; the monthly cousins' luncheons and being among friends.He will be greatly missed by his wife Carol; his children: Gary (Lori) Colwell; Tracey (Mike) Friedrichsen; Robin (Eric) Moeller; Brenda (Chris) Parsons; Christina (Chuck) Sweeny; and Lynne Murphy; his sisters: Jeannette (John) Overpeck; Cindy (Warren) Dittfield; his brothers-in-law: Alvin (Carol) Rosenberger; Buck (Martha) Field; Bill (Betsey) Field; his sisters-in-law: Elizabeth (Larry) Simons; Patricia Coleman; eleven grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them Ken Coleman and Rick Young. He was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Ruth Colwell and his wife Jeanne Field Colwell on October 26, 1999.Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, November 25th from 4 to 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 11 am at the funeral chapel.
