Richard Earl TharpOf Des Moines, IowaRichard Tharp, 81, passed away on February 17, 2017. He was born on May 8, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa.Richard worked as general manager for Dewey Ford and then 19 years for Noble Ford Mercury until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Home Lodge #370 and Za Ga Zig Shrine. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; children, Richard (Judy) Tharp, Jr., Randy Tharp, and Carrie Rowe; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Betty Ransford, Jack (Bonnie) Tharp, Beverly Terry, James (Joyce) Tharp, and Shirley Tharp; and many nieces and nephews.Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Marble and Edith Tharp; siblings, Clara Prock, and Bobby Glen Tharp.A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, with visitation of friends and family prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.Memorials may be directed to the ARL in loving memory of Richard.
