Labbe, Richard Joseph 74, of Glendale, AZ passed away on April 6, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with vascular dementia. His journey with his illness and devout Catholic faith inspired all who were blessed to share in his journey. Dick was born on May 26, 1942 in Pembroke, New Hampshire to Armand and Estelle Labbe. He was educated in Catholic schools and graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1960. He enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country honorably for four years. He graduated from college with a business degree and began his lifelong work in finance, accounting, and tax preparation. He married Jaqueline Martel in 1971 and they soon moved to Arizona. Dick and Jackie had three children Danielle, John Paul, and Michael Labbe and were married until the death of Jackie in 1992. In 1997, Dick married Aleta Jaycox and together they became a family of seven children with Jolene, Melissa, Michael and Patrick Jaycox joining in family with Danielle, John Paul and Michael Labbe. This blended family has blossomed to now include nine grandchildren with another on the way. Dick was a loving husband and father, his grandchildren loved calling him "Paco". His life exemplified faith in God, country, and service to his fellow man, Dick believed in giving back to others in gratitude for God's blessings. His many achievements and activities include serving on the Arrowhead Hospital board, Glendale Kachina Rotary Club, Serra Club, Knights of Columbus, Treasurer of First Way Pregnancy Center, volunteering and serving at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and school in Glendale, and his favorite pastime of playing golf. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Boston Celtics. His life, love of God and family, and courage in the face of his devastating illness serve as an inspiration to all his family and dear friends he leaves behind. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Armand and Estelle Labbe, his first wife, Jaqueline Labbe, his brother-in-law, Donald Mangerie and his sister-in-law Carol Martel. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Aleta, and their children Jolene Jaycox (Scott Daley), Melissa Lopez (Armando), Danielle Older (Cory), John Paul Labbe, Michael Labbe, Michael Jaycox, Patrick Jaycox (Demitria), his siblings, Louise Martel (Butch), Paul Labbe (Louise), and Jackie Labbe. He is also survived by his dear sister-in-law, Annette Mangerie, who helped care for him with her nursing skills and served him in his illness with compassion and care, his sister-in-law, Sue Mangerie, brother-in-law Roland Martel "JR" and his nine loving grandchildren, Trevor, Christian, Addison, Cooper, Evan, Hudson, Ashton, Blake, and Wesley, and his many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his many dear and devoted friends and extended family. Many thanks to all who offered their help and prayers in Dick's time of need and to Father John Lankeit for his guidance, prayers, and sacraments for Dick. A visitation will take place at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ. On Tuesday, April 11, 2017, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, with rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:30am at S.S. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ.
