Richard Lee "Dick" MartindaleNewark, Ohio: Richard Lee "Dick" Martindale, 85, of Newark, Ohio passed away at 9:49pm on Monday, August 7, 2017 at his home.Dick was born on August 11, 1931 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Charles Bryan "Brownie" and Fern Lenore Howerth Martindale.Dick loved his God, his family, his country, Harley Davidson motorcycles, airplanes, old Fords and Pontiac cars. He was a former member of the Newark Vibrators Model A Ford Club, Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) and the Harley Owners Group (HOG). He was a member of Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church of Granville. He and his wife Madeline attended many car shows and collected many trophies. Dick graduated from New Lexington High School in 1949. He operated a Sohio Service Station from 1959 to 1966 in New Lexington, Ohio. On January 3rd, 1967 he went to work at the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 5 office in Newark, Ohio, where he worked until he retired in 1993 with 26 ½ years of service. Dick was a member of the New Lexington Volunteer Fire Department before moving to Newark. Dick and his wife of 60 years enjoyed traveling around the USA and the world with their daughter Cathy. Dick and Madeline also enjoyed their winter months during their retirement at their condo in Fort Myers, Florida.He is survived by his wife, Madeline Ann Wilson Martindale; children, Richard A. Martindale (Kim Blackledge) of Newark, Cathy A. (John) Heppler of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Johnny and Kyle; Susan K. (Tim) Lehman of Newark; grandchildren, Michayla (Chris) Nester, Philip, Sam and Hannah; Gary L. (Sandy) Martindale of Carmel, Indiana; grandchildren, Kasey, Brian and Jack; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Mary E. (John) Wright and Bill Buckley, Edgar E. "Bud" (Dorothy) Martindale, William J. "Bill" (Rachel) Martindale and Janice V. "Judy" (Frank) Stiles. Calling Hours will be held from 5pm-8pm with Wake service at 8pm on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12noon on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Saint Rose Catholic Church, Main and Water Streets, New Lexington, Ohio with Father Daniel Swartz as celebrant.Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery; a luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, East Jefferson Street, New Lexington, Ohio following the committal.Memorial contributions may be made to MMORE for Multiple Myeloma Research Fund, c/o: The James at the Wexner Medical Center @ The
