On June 17, 2009, Rick passed away suddenly in San Diego. Rick was born on October 3, 1957, in Astoria, New York, and graduated from La Jolla High in 1976. He was a longtime resident of San Diego. Rick was looking forward to coaching his soon-to-be grandson in Little League. He was a loving father, husband and son. Rick worked at UCSD for 25 years as a Senior Computer Operator. He was an avid sports nut (if it was on TV, he watched it), chef (so he would not have to do the dishes) and he enjoyed golf and gambling. Rick had the unique honor to have many lifelong friends from high school and life. Rick is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Natalie; son, Martyn; and mother, Rosalba Sherman. Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 8PM at Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 7669 Girard Ave., La Jolla, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the .
