FREMONT — Richard M. Oxenger, 93, of Clear Lake, Fremont died Monday, June 1, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Mr. Oxenger retired in 1979 from Adrian Chain and Cable in Adrian, Michigan. He also was a mechanic in Detroit and worked for Swaney Ford in Morenci, Michigan. He was born on March 14, 1922, in Reading, Michigan, to Ora and Hazel (Ward) Oxenger. He was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School in Reading. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during WW II, and was a military policeman. He was married to Betty J. Forester on Dec. 19, 1943, in Angola, she preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1989. Surviving are four daughters, Carolyn (Gary) Driscoll of Adrian, Michigan, Lee Anne (Paul) Mattern of Fremont, Martie (Rick) Dwyer of Britton, Michigan, and Judy (Gary) Johnston of Fremont; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Duane Oxenger, and a sister, Pauline Jackson. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Voyle Harterload officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom, Michigan.
