Richard "Dick" R. Rodgers TOGETHER AGAINRichard R. "Dick" Rodgers, age 79, passed away on November 23, 2016. He was born on April 7, 1937 in Akron to the late Raymond and Doris Rodgers. Dick was a 1955 graduate of Tallmadge High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Patti Ann Buchanan in 1956 (Pixie and Dixie Forever). He attended University of Akron while employed at Rodgers Micro Grinding until retiring as owner/operator. Dick enjoyed life to the fullest with his many friends and interests. His biggest goal was to educate the world, wanting everyone to get a further education. Preceded in death by his wife, Patti; son, Anthony; sisters, Patty Odom and Rita Rodgers and many aunts and uncles; he is survived by his children, Vicki Rodgers, Burl (Debra) Rodgers and Cindy (Mike) Duta; grandchildren, Andrea Rodgers, Morgan, Forrest and Grant Duta and Brooke Rodgers; three great grandchildren and many friends and acquaintances. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron, Ohio 44304. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude's Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
