ROSEBERRY Richard Robert (Dick) Roseberry, 87, passed away at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Florida on September 11, 2016 after battling neck cancer. Dick was born on April 14, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death in June 2007 by his loving wife of 55 years, Billie Dawn (Lebkisher) Roseberry. He is survived by his two children, Richard Lee (Rick) and Dana Sue Roseberry, as well as one grandchild and two great- grandchildren, all of Cape Coral. Dick graduated from the State
University of Iowa in 1951. He participated in ROTC and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers upon graduation. He served in the
Korean War, and was promoted to First Lieutenant before his Honorable Discharge in 1954. Dick married the love of his life, Billie Dawn, on August 16, 1952. Dick was always a loyal Iowa Hawkeye and, after moving to Florida in 1996, Dick was the founder and first president of the Paradise Iowa Club in Southwest Florida. Dick and Billie were residents of Lake Quivira, Kansas for 20+ years. He was on the Lake Quivira Board of Directors and was a volunteer
fire fighter for many years. Dick was also a loyal Chiefs and Royals fan, a member of Red Coats Chiefs Club and also had season tickets for both the Royals and the Chiefs for decades. Dick was an active member of the Instrument Society of America (ISA), who bestowed upon him their Distinguished Society Service Award for his service. He was an avid golfer who finally hung up his clubs after his first hole-in- one. He was also an enthusiastic genealogist, tracing the family tree back to England in the 1100s. Dick will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts with checks made out to the "Roseberry Family Scholarship Fund" and mailed to: UI Foundation, PO Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244- 4550.
