Richard Thomas Rohn, Jr. died peacefully at home in Rockford, Illinois on November 15, 2016 at the age of 64. Rick is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean (nee Anderson); children, Edward (Joy) and Alyssa; granddaughter, Ariana; mother, Janet Rohn (nee Torgesen); siblings Linda O'Hara (Dave), Steve Rohn (Judy), James Rohn (Lydia) and Barbara White (Scotty). He is preceded in death by his father Richard Thomas Rohn, Sr. and brother Dennis Alan Rohn. Rick was born on June 2,1952 in Chicago, Illinois to Richard and Janet Rohn. He graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1970. He completed his Pipe Fitter apprenticeship in 1975. He worked with his father, brother and son, retiring in 2012 after 37 years in the trade. Rick has been an active member of his church community throughout his life. He had many contributions to the church including choir, praise band, men's group, Church Council president, and numerous other committees. Rick's love for singing began in high school choir continuing on in the Harper Festival Chorus and was always singing in the church choir. He could be heard singing at work and around the house daily. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He volunteered countless hours as a leader in the scouting programs both as Cubmaster and Scoutmaster. A Memorial Service is scheduled on Sunday, December 11 at 3:00 pm with visitation prior to the service at 2:00 pm at Light of Christ Lutheran Church, 100 S. Hanson Rd., Algonquin Illinois, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Light of Christ Lutheran Church.
