RICHARD G. THRUMAN SR., 78 PRESQUE ISLE, Wis. - Richard G. Thruman Sr., age 78, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at home. He was born on Aug. 10, 1935, in Freeport, Ill., the son of Robert and Alice Thruman. He married Sandra Lyn LeBaron on Feb. 11, 1953, in Freeport by Sandra's grandfather, Roscoe LeBaron. Richard worked at Modern Plating in Freeport and Ohio Medical in Madison, retiring in 1991. He retired to the North Woods where he loved fishing, hunting, country music, playing guitar with his sons and brothers and watching boxing. He also liked polishing antiques and collected Hank Williams Sr. anything. Richard was a member of The Butch Raabe and His Country Boys and Gals Band and was also in a band with his brothers called The Thruman Brothers. Richard is survived by his children, Rae Ann Bender of Stoughton, Rick (Nancy) Thruman of Stoughton, Rich (Becky) Thruman Jr. of Baraboo, and Barry Thruman of Stoughton; brothers, Glen (Nelda), Jimmie and Donald, all of Freeport; a sister, Phyllis Loring of Rockford; and 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny; grandchild, Krista; great-grandchildren, Cassie and Nolan; brothers, Frank Sr., Kenneth, and Bob; and a sister, Virginia Veer. Memorial services will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, with the Rev. Brian LeBaron officiating.
