Richard W. "Dick," "Sneezy" Snyder, age 86 , of Summit St., in Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016, as a resident of the Jefferson Manor in Brookville. He was born on July 13, 1929, to the late William C. and Elizabeth B. (Shelley) Snyder, in Brookville, PA. On October 6, 1951, he married Vada M. (Calhoun) Snyder, in Brockway, PA; Vada survives him. Dick and Vada owned and operated Snyder's Dry Cleaning in Brookville from 1954 - 1991. He enjoyed being able to go to their property and spend time in the woods. He liked to hunt for deer, turkey, and groundhog. He was also an avid gardener. In his early years he was well known for his roller skating skills. Dick served as a Brookville Volunteer
Fireman for over 20 years but more than anything else, he loved and enjoyed his family. In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by 1 daughter, Gwendolyn (Denny) Battaglia of Brookville, PA; 2 grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Battaglia of Pittsburgh, PA; Erin Battaglia of Reynoldsville, PA; 3 great-grandchildren, Madisan Cable, Katy McGahey, and Max McGahey. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by 1 sister, Adair Strang; Dick was the last surviving member of his family. Family and friends were received on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A funeral service was held on Monday, April 18, 2016, also at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. James Steingass. Interment was at Temple Cemetery in Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
