Rickey Lee Rice of Spartanburg, SC transitioned to his eternal home on May 17, 2022. He was predeceased by his father and mother Robert Lee Rice and Lillian Rice-Moorman.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Inell Rice Boyd; two daughter, Tasha Lynette Rice of Laurens, SC, DeAnne Janet Rice of Spartanburg,SC; one granddaughter, Jadasia Bennett, of Spartanburg, SC; one stepdaughter, Veronica Dawkins of Charlotte, NC; three sisters,Brenda Rice of Spartanburg, SC ; Lizz Ruth Hines( Fredrick) of Moore,SC and Lorranne Rice of Spartanburg SC; two brothers, Charles Rice ( Glenda) of Charlotte, NC and William (Barbara) Rice of Simpsonville, SC; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law, A loving caring and special caregiver niece, Cirrera Mills of Jonesville, SC and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Rickey was educated in the public schools of Spartanburg County, South Carolina and graduated from Dorman High School in 1971 where he was a trailblazer. He received an Associate Degree from Devry Technical Institute in Atlanta, GA.
He was employed with the South Carolina Department of Corrections where he retired after twenty-five plus years of service as a Lieutenant.
Rickey was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Spartanburg at an early age. He had an awesome journey with Christ. His faith, commitment, and loyalty afforded him the appointment of Deacon at Woodson Chapel Baptist Church in Union, SC. He took great pride in his ordination and rendered service to the church, giving of his time, talents, and treasures. Rickey was a bible scholar who enjoyed teaching the word to any and everyone he met. He was often called upon for his advice. He enjoyed the meeting before the meeting and the meeting after the meeting where he would rightly divide the word of God to provide the essence and application of the word.
His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those whose lives he touched but never met.
The family will receive friends at the home and at the home of his daughter. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
