TOPEKA — Rita "Marlene" Campbell, age 83, of Topeka, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. She was born on July 20, 1931, the daughter of Mildred L. (Greenwalt) and Glen W. Smith in Topeka, Indiana. On September 16, 1949, she married Bill R. Snyder; he preceded her in death on October 19, 1979. On September 29, 1981, she married Ted Campbell; he survives. Also surviving are Marlene's children, Brent (Rita) Snyder of Rochester, New York, and Jeanne (Mike) Becker and Denise (Ken) Mongeon, both of Topeka, Indiana; Ted's children, Dan (Cheryl) Campbell of Empire, Michigan, Doug (Alice) Campbell of North Manchester, Indiana, Deb (Steve) Smidt of Columbia City, Indiana, Dawn (Craig) Kelly of Grand Haven, Michigan, and DeDe (Rick) Burkel of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; together Ted and Marlene have 27 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ted's son, Dave Campbell; and two grandsons, Colton and Will Becker. Marlene was a lifelong resident of Topeka, Indiana, and a 1949 graduate of Topeka High School. She was a genealogy enthusiast and was passionate about researching her family history. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and prayed for them continually. Above all Marlene loved and followed her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A funeral service will be held in Marlene's honor on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Community Fellowship Church, 128 Roy St., Topeka, Indiana. Pastors Lyn Stutzman and Harold Gingerich will officiate. Entombment will take place at Eden Cemetery in Topeka, Indiana. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday June 19, 2015, at Community Fellowship Church in Topeka, Indiana.
