Rita Mae Fair CoxRita Mae Fair Cox passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the age of 88. She was born on May 26, 1924 in Ohio and spent her early years in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She moved with her family to Long Beach, California and was a Long Beach Poly High School graduate. Rita worked in the retail industry for JC Penney in downtown Long Beach and later transferred to the JC Penney in the Downey Stonewood Shopping Center. Rita continued with retail when she and her husband, Arch, opened their own store, Arch's Store For Men on Firestone Blvd in Downey. She and Arch made Downey their home for over 50 years. Rita took great pride in keeping her home spotless and hosting family dinners with lots of wonderful home cooked food as family was everything to her. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Archibald Cox; her sister, Mildred Boyd; her brother, Charles Fair (Dorla); 2 nieces; 1 nephew; 4 great-nieces; 2 great-nephews; 3 great-great nieces and nephews; and stepdaughter, Jana (Jim) Nichols and her family. Viewing and Rosary with be on Sunday, September 16 from 5pm-8pm with Rosary at 6:30 pm at All Souls Mortuary. Interment on Monday, September 17 at 10 am at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach.
