Rita Mae Waguespack Gordano, age 78, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at her home in Metairie, LA. She was born on February 7 in Raceland, LA to Lawrence Waguespack and Georgina Foret Waguespack. Rita graduated from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, LA in 1956. She married Kerry Lee Gordano in 1958 and were happily married for 58 years. Rita was a loving mom of 4 daughters. She was a caretaker of many and volunteered her time to Green Park Elementary School in Metairie, LA. Rita is survived by her spouse, Kerry Lee "Kelly" Gordano; her daughters, Kelleen Gordano Demerest (Charles) of Covington, LA, Kathleen Gordano Stanton of Covington, LA, Karen Gordano Adams (Albert Sr.) of Kenner, LA, and Kristine Gordano Ball (Brian) of Covington, LA; eight grandchildren, Jason Stanton, Jesse Stanton, Lyndsey Stanton, Amanda Adams, Albert Adams Jr., Anthony Adams, Madeline Ericksen, and Elise Ericksen; her goddaughter, Yvonne Hernandez Cartee; three nephews, Larry Waguespack, Toby Waguespack, and Rodney Waguespack; and a niece, Roxanne Maxwell. Rita was preceded in death by her siblings, Isabell Hernandez, Freddy Waguespack and Miriam Ferrer. A Funeral Mass will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until Mass time.
