RITA JEAN POOL, 58 FREEPORT - Rita Jean Pool, 58, of Freeport, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, in her home, following an 18 year battle with multiple sclerosis. Rita was born on February 23, 1955, in Freeport, the daughter of Emmert and Margaret (Pontnack) Duitsman. Rita was married to Charles L. Pool Jr. She worked for Kautenburgh for 15 years, and was also a Team Leader at Freeport Terrace Ridge. She was a member of Florence Station Untied Methodist Church. Surviving are husband, Charles L. Pool Jr. of Freeport; two sons, Josh (Misty) Swift of Davis and Nick Pool of Freeport; stepson, Jessie (Kim) Pool of Fulton, TN; brother, LaVerne Duitsman of Freeport; two sisters, Diane (Bruce) Freier of Freeport and Donna Burnner of Elgin. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and two lifelong friends, Shelia Steinhauser and Diane Sterling-Libberton, both of Forreston. Rita was preceded in death by her parents; stepson, Daniel; and sister, LaVonne. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Florence Station United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be in Florence Station Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory.
