Rita S. Leggins84, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 26, 2017. She was born on March 24, 1933 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Curtis and Cecilia Gedig Sheets. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She retired from I.U.M.C. department of surgery as secretary to Dr. James Madura. She enjoyed camping, dancing and spending time with her family. Survivors include her sister, Nancy (Larry) Sutton, and brother, James Sheets, her sons, Wayne (Theresa), Joe (Mary), Brian (Christy) Leggins and Patrick Raftery, daughters, Suzey (Kenny) Hovenstine, Sherri (Roger) Altman, Jennifer (Mike) White and Ann (Rick) Knight, 18 grandchildren and 22 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Leggins, daughter, Victoria L. Raftery, grandson, Ethan C. Bailey and brother, David (Margie) Sheets. Visitation will be on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 31, 10:00 AM at St Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S Pennsylvania St, Indianapolis, IN. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Dementia Society of America. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ghherrmann.com.
