Take me to redneck Heaven, when I'm dead and gone, where my southern roots are buried and my family lives along.
Robert Earl Rollins, better known to his friends and loved ones as Hatchet, left this world on May 13, 2018. Hatchet lost his battle with cancer and passed peacefully at the home of his daughter at 4:36 am.
Hatchet was well known throughout the community for his witty personality and huge heart. Hatchet lived his life enjoying simple pleasures; laughing with friends, fishing and the outdoors. All that have had the pleasure of a meeting of Hatchet will have an equally memorable story of him to share. His devotion and love for others is a true testament to the beauty of his heart and soul. His unmistakable presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.
Hatchet served with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Department early in his career and later retired from Devon Energy with 30 years of service.
Hatchet was preceded in death by his son, Robert R. Rollins “Little Hatchet” and his wife, Dwyla Rae. Hatchet leaves behind two Daughters, Rebecca Adams and Rosalin Hunter, Stepson Jason Edwards, niece Chelsea Huffman, Brother-in-law Dean Ousley, Grandchildren, Justin Stevens, Megan Hunter, Marissah Stevens, Joshua Stevens, Great Grandson, Ayden Stevens, his beloved dog, Princess, two great-nephews, his great-niece, many not so beloved wives and ex-wives, and many longtime friends and neighbors.
His Daughter, Rebecca Adams will host a memorial at Halls Bayou Bait Camp. More details will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Hatchet would ask that you do something kind, inappropriate, or both in his honor.
