James Robert Kent, born on June 6, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia, United States, passed away on February 12, 2024. He was the beloved son of James R. Kent (1966) and Elenora Kent (1986). He is survived by his sisters Roberta and Carol, and his nephews Christopher, Jeff, and Bryan.
Robert did not have any children of his own, but he cherished his family and friends dearly. He attended Albuquerque High School and graduated in 1970. He went on to serve in the Air Force as a Senior Airman before finding his career at the Environmental Protection Agency. Robert dedicated many years of service to the EPA, retiring in 2020.
One of Robert's greatest passions was history. He enjoyed studying and learning about the past, always eager to share his knowledge with others. In his free time, he could often be found reading books on various historical topics or visiting museums and historical sites.
On February 12, 2024, Robert passed away suddenly due to cardiac ischemia. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sharp mind, and love for learning. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and passion for history that will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be cremated by Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home & Crematory in Alexandria, VA.His ashes are to be spread across the Fort Ward Museum Historic Site in Alexandria, VA.
