Robert Bernard SalaRobert Bernard Sala passed away on June 27th, 2017 with his family by his side at Jersey Shore Medical Center at the age of 62. Bob is survived by his wife Karen (nee Rowe), children Peter and Elizabeth, daughter-in-law Marissa, grandson Charles, and cousins Michael Corbett and Lois Purcell. Bob was born on August 2, 1954 to Bernard and Elizabeth Sala and grew up in East Paterson, NJ. Bob married his beloved wife Karen in 1980 and they raised their family in Mahwah, NJ before moving to Barnegat in 2013. Bob enjoyed a long and successful career as a professional pilot, flying for American Airlines for over 32 years, nearly 20 as Captain. To his wife, Robert will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband. To his children, a strong, supportive, and caring Father. To his friends, a man of great integrity, drive, reliability, and compassion. To his colleagues, an intuitive, skillful, disciplined, and professional pilot.A service is scheduled for 11 AM on Wednesday, July 5th at First United Methodist Church located at 101 East New Jersey Avenue, Beach Haven Terrace, NJ.
