Robert Bocanegra, 81, of Houston Texas, passed Saturday, November 04, 2017. He was born December 18, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas.
Robert graduated from William B. Travis High School in 1953 and received a degree from St. Edwards University in 1957. He married Maria Bocanegra in 1959, and they lived together in San Antonio. Robert worked in San Antonio, Texas, until he retired in 2000. Robert joined the Air Force and was off to Germany. Once back in the States, he had a successful career as a General Motors Executive. He worked hard for everything he accomplished.
Robert always enjoyed time fishing with his family and friends in Port Aransas, Texas. Whether he was on his boat the Popcorn Hustler with family or inviting one of his grandchildren into the boat barn for another project, Robert helped make a second home there for the family.
First and foremost Robert was a servant of the Lord. He was strong for so many people. He gave his heart to us all and was actively involved in his church, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus. He spoke fondly of his family, friends and extended church family. His days were filled with early morning rises with his dog, Bella, and the deer, competitive golf games, and cultivating his beautiful garden. He never backed down from a challenge. He had a kind heart, was always classy and sometimes sassy. His grandchildren kept him young and vibrant and he lived to see smiles on their faces. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Robert is survived by 4 children: Eric Bocanegra (Rebecca Bocanegra), Steven Bocanegra (DJ Bocanegra), Patrick Bocanegra (Ashley Bocanegra), and Josie Riojas (Antonio Riojas). He also is survived by 12 grandchildren.
