Robert (Bob) Burton Outhouse, 73Robert (Bob) Burton Outhouse age 73, of St Petersburg, Florida died Sep 17, 2014 in St Petersburg. Bob was born on July 19, 1941 in Tacoma Park, MD, to Dr. James Burton Outhouse and Louise Reinohl Outhouse. During the war years and after, he spent much of his time with his grandparents and uncles on their farm in Canandaigua, NY, a place that was always dear to him. In 1952, his family moved to Lafayette, IN, where they began raising purebred Southdown sheep on a small suburban farm. Bob was active in 4-H and Junior Leaders in his youth and his highlight was exhibiting the Grand Champion wether at the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago in 1959. Bob was mechanically inclined, especially with things electric and electronic. At an early age, he built crystal radio sets and loved working on old tube radios and televisions. In high school, he built and sold his first hot rod, a '34 Ford pickup. Bob graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1960 and attended
Purdue University. Bob married Della Short in 1961 and they had three daughters Angela, Christine, and Elizabeth. They later divorced. In 1969, he married J. Sue King. They had a son Robert Jr. and daughter Jennifer. They later divorced. Bob, Sue, and Jennifer moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1989. With Bob's industrial experience, he ran operations at a manufacturing company that started as Bay State Abrasives and exists today as a successful granite business. Bob knew a little bit of something about everything. He loved tinkering with cars and fixing things. Bob was beloved by many. He had a big heart, and was generous to a fault, always lending a hand to those in need. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Louise Outhouse. Bob is survived by his four daughters, Angie Crowe (Jerry) of Otterbein, IN, Christine Pitts Lawrence (Peter)of St. Petersburg, FL,, Beth Hessong (Leon) of Frankfort, IN, & Jennifer Oden (Mike) of Lafayette IN; son Robert Burton Outhouse Jr. (Kim) of Lafayette, IN; sister Jan Overton (Ron) of West Lafayette, IN: brother David Outhouse (Donna) of Richardson, TX; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two nieces, a nephew, and a number of cousins. A celebration of life will take place Friday, October 24th at 6:00 pm at Otterbein United Methodist Church. Friends may call on his family at 5:30 pm.
