Robert Butler, Jr. of New York, passed Monday, April 8, 2019, at Montefiore Hospital on Gun Hill Rd in The Bronx. He was 64. He was born to Robert Butler, Sr., and Rosa Lee Butler, April 16, 1954, in New York, New York.
Robert attended Brandeis High School in Manhattan. Growing up, he and his siblings were close-knit and never strayed far from each other. With his two brothers, Kenneth and Larry, along with his sisters Sandra, Darlene, Eunice, and Julie, they would come to rely on each other throughout various points in their lives. He always preached, “blood is thicker than water.” He married Lourdes Butler in 1976, and they lived together in the Bronx with their 3 children, Robert, Dennis, and Kimberly. Anyone who knew “Junior” has a million stories they can tell. From his hour-long trips to the store; to telling stories and jokes with a can of beer in his hand; to making any kid laugh with his funny faces; Junior touched everyone in a positive way. He had the ability to make anyone smile - even when you didn’t want to. As he would always say, “That’s why he’s “J.R.” and you’re not.”
Robert is survived by 3 children: Robert Butler III (Kayce), Dennis Butler both of Nashville, TN and Kimberly Butler of New York. His wife: Lourdes Maria Butler of New York. His brother: Kenneth Butler (Stephanie) of New York. Sisters: Darlene Butler and Julie Butler both of New York. Eunice (Johnny) White of Holly Hill, SC. Four grandchildren: Robert Butler IV, Bryton Butler, Aaron Butler, and Dani Butler all of Nashville, TN. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
