Strome, Robert Charles 91, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on November 30, 2016. Bob is survived by four daughters, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren He was a faithful member of Paradise Valley Methodist Church for over 45 years where he enjoyed singing in the choir, attending the Men's Club activities, donating time to charitable events and spending time with his fellow parishioners. Bob was born on May 17, 1925 in South Bend, Indiana, a 'Hoosier' through and through. He enjoyed his childhood years in Mishawaka playing sports of every kind, learning the piano, and spending many holidays at lakes nearby. As a boy scout he was in his element, learning outdoor survival skills, camping and enjoying every aspect of the great outdoors, culminating in the renowned Eagle Scout status. On November 18, 1943 Bob was drafted into the United States Marine Corp and was sent to train at Camp Pendleton. A member of 5th Marine Division he was served in the invasion of Iwo Jima where he fought seventeen days before he was injured and hospitalized. Bob was honorably discharged on March 28th, 1946. On January 23, 1954 Bob married Mary Catherine Porter and moved to Dowagiac, MI where they spent they spent 17 years. In July, 1971 they moved the family to Scottsdale, Arizona. Mary passed away in 2010. A gravesite service will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery on December 9th, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to
