Herrington, Robert ClaytonRobert Clayton Herrington, 86, a lifelong resident of Addison, New York passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on April 1, 2017. He is survived by children; Pamela (Tom) Mann, Karen (Michael) Bracy, Kyle (Donna) Herrington and Lori (Scott) Bartholomew. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Melissa, Meghan, Katelin, Michael, Luke, Colton, Zachary, Kristen, Laura, Melanie, and 7 great-grandchildren; Jacob, Zane, Izzabella, Russell, Aubrey, Micah and Harper. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Hugh Hurlburt. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean Hurd Herrington and his sister-in-law Lois Hurd Hurlbut. He was the son of Clayton and Laura (Dense) Herrington. Robert was born on June 9, 1930 in Corning, New York. He graduated from Addison Central School, the class of 1948. He graduated from Alfred State College in 1950 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. While at Alfred Robert was the New York State President of the Future Farmers of America (F.F.A.). He ran the Herrington farms in Borden, New York from 1950 until 1971. In 1964 he and his wife built and operated Crescent Lake. It is presently owned by the Herrington family and is being enjoyed by many generations. Robert retired in 1992 after serving many years as a bus driver for the Addison Central School District. He was an avid hunter, sports enthusiast and as a young man loved to play baseball. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and loved to follow his grandchildren in their sports endeavors never missing a game.Funeral arrangements are with the Carpenter-Flint Funeral Home in Addison, New York. Calling hours will be from 2-4 pm on Saturday, April 8, 2017 and the funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Carpenter-Flint Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made in Robert's honor to Addison Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 164, Addison, New York 14801.
