LIGONIER — Robert B. Dhonau, Jr., 59, of Ligonier, passed away on August 23, 2014 in Goshen, IN. He was born on January 2, 1955 in Oak Park, IL to Robert and Martha (Albers) Dhonau. He is survived by his children, Renee (Paul) Ruckman of North Manchester, IN, Danielle (Dustin) Combs of Wawaka, IN, Rachelle (Roland) Wildman of Rome City, IN, Pete Dhonau of Fort Wayne, IN and Katie Dhonau of Fort Wayne, IN. Nine Grandchildren also survive, as well as a sister, Susan Ritchie, of Ligonier, and his only niece, Jennifer (Michael) Slone of Cromwell, IN, and 2 great-nieces. Rob was preceded in death by his parents. Rob was raised by his mother and his stepfather, Joe Miller. He was in the Boy Scouts growing up. He graduated from West Noble High School in 1973. He was an industrial maintenance man in local factories. He spent 22 years as a volunteer on the Ligonier Fire Dept. and was an EMT/ First Responder. He worked in Larry Overmyer's body shop in Ligonier for many years. He loved his dogs and cats, and made them breakfast and cookies. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. His children have fond memories of Rob teaching them to fish. He had a special talent for woodworking. He enjoyed going back to the Chicago area and visiting various suburbs. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 4-8 P.M. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. A memorial service will be at a later date. A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family c/o Yeager Funeral Home.
