Robert Dittmar 1926-2016 of Bradenton, Fla. passed away peacefully on Oct. 11, 2016 at his residence of Windsor Assisted Living. Known to many as "Bob", he was born on July 17, 1926 in Massillon, Ohio. He was a Washington high School graduate. He was also involved in the Shrine Drum Corps. Bob served in the United State Navy during the years of 1944-1946 aboard the USS Osage. Bob was a lifelong employee of the Pipe Fitters Union 94 for 70 years. His later years he worked with Gilbane company out of Cleveland, Ohio. Bob married the love of his life Joyce on July 2, 1976. They celebrated 40 years of marriage this past summer. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ester and Harry Dittmar and Stepson Todd Williamson. He is survived by two children, Blake Dittmar and Dru Vaught and three step daughters; Lynn Babeli, Pat (Jim) Best, and Kim Hostetter. He is also survived by a son-in-law and close friend, Niles Hostetter. Along with his children he is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Per Bob's request a cremation and memorial service has taken place in at Skyway Memorial in Palmetto, Fla. He wanted his remains to stay in the state that always kept him warm so the family abided to his wishes. A celebration of life memorial will be held in At the American Legion on Cleveland Ave. in Canton, Ohio on Oct. 26, 2016 from 6-8p.m. A short memorial service will begin promptly at 6p.m.
