Robert E. GlennAGE: 89 • WilmingtonRobert Emmett Glenn, 89 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 15, 2017.Bob was born on January 20, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, son of Andrew and Marion (Ziegler) Glenn. He graduated Roman Catholic High School, Class of 1944. He served honorably with the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the ground forces as a rifleman in the South Pacific. He was a proud marine who embodied the words "Once a Marine, Always a Marine." Bob then returned home to Philadelphia to start his career and in 1951 married Alice Crosson. In 1961, he and his family moved to Delaware so that he could advance his career with the Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation, first as a service technician and then as service manager. He retired with the same organization after 50-plus years of service in 1998. Bob was truly devoted to his family. He was known by all for his strong work ethic and for his kindness to others beyond measure. Over the years, Bob was a member of St. John the Beloved Roman Catholic Church and later in life, became a member of the First Baptist Church on Limestone Road. His church family and his spiritual life were important parts of his life. In his early years, he served as a softball coach and umpire and was involved in many church and community organizations. He was always willing to lend a helping hand for his neighbors and friends. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity. For over forty years he spent weekday mornings before work and in retirement at McDonald's on Kirkwood Highway where, according to his friends, they would discuss and solve the world's problems over a cup of coffee. He cultivated strong friendships with people from the Absalom Jones Senior Center, Mid-County Senior Center and the Claymore Center where he spent his time playing pinochle and enjoying their true friendship. He cherished his family and anyone who knows him understands the depth of his love he had for them.Bob is survived by his daughters, Patricia Glenn, Diane Glenn and Kathleen Glenn; his grandchildren, Carissa Glenn, Ryan Glenn, Daniel Godwin and Dillon Wagner; his nieces, Michelle Wagner and Kathleen Wagner (James Wichert); and his nephews, William Wagner, Thomas Wagner (Staci) and his great nieces and nephews: Emily, Eavan, Aaron, David, Katherine and Destiny. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Alice A.
