Robert "Bob" Edward LeSueur Knoxville, TN Robert "Bob" Edward LeSueur, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. He was born on March 24, 1936, in Johnson City, TN, and was the son of Effie and Edgar LeSueur, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eddie LeSueur. Bob graduated from Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a teacher and coach at East High and Bearden High Schools. The Bob LeSueur track sign in his honor was recently placed at Bearden High School and on March 5, 2016, Bob LeSueur Day was proclaimed at the school. He served with the Marine Reserves in Johnson City and Knoxville from 1954 to 1965. He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and UT sports. During his era, his athletes won many state championships and personal records were set. These are included on the Bob LeSueur Track sign. Coach LeSueur received numerous coaching awards including National Track Coach of the Year. Many athletes were awarded college scholarships. Bob LeSueur was inducted into the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame and East High Hall of Fame. He was mentioned at the UT Basketball game the evening of his passing by former Bearden High School athlete and sports announcer Bert Bertlekamp along with Bob Kessling. Mayor Tim Burchett also had the Bob LeSueur Track sign installed at Bearden HS on Wednesday. Coach taught hundreds of children to swim in Knoxville and held The Bob LeSueur Track Camp to help promote track and field. He was beloved by many and people continued to be amazed at his positive attitude even during his fight with cancer and beforehand with blindness since 1985. He impacted the lives of many young men and women and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Brett LeSueur; daughter, Gena Poulos and husband, Greg, of Raleigh; son, Derrick LeSueur and wife, Karen; daughter, Gayle Wright and husband, Mark, of Franklin, TN; the mother of the children is Carolyn J. LeSueur; granddaughter, Samantha Poulos, of Denver, CO; grandson, Garrett Poulos, of Raleigh; grandsons, Michael LeSueur and Matthew LeSueur; their mother, Terri LeSueur; grandson, Davis Wright, of Owensboro, KY; granddaughter, Chloe Wright, of Franklin, TN. The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 2:30 PM at Sevier Heights Baptist Church, 3232 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, where he was a member.
