Naze Sr, Robert F.Robert F. Naze Sr., 88, Algoma, was called to eternity April 9, 2017. He was born on March 9, 1929 to the late Xavier and Helen (Meunier) Naze and held the honor of first baby born in the newly built Algoma Hospital on Mill Street, Algoma, WI. Bob married Gloria Hartwig on June 5, 1973. Bob attended St. Mary Grade School and Algoma High School. Upon graduating from high school on June 6, 1947, Bob joined the United States Army June 7 at age 18. He was sworn in at Great Lakes Training Center in North Chicago, IL, attended basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was stationed at Battalion Headquarters, Fort Ord, California. He retained the rank of S/Sgt. (Staff Sergeant) and was honorably discharged December 1948 and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He attended Badger Business School in Green Bay and started his career as an Insurance Agent, continuing in the business twelve years. Bob became Traffic Manager at Badger Northland in Algoma, followed by Kaukauna and Neenah/Menasha. He then worked as Traffic Manager at Dorco Manufacturing (now EcoLite), Sturgeon Bay, WI. Bob became the first Traffic Manager at Wisconsin Label Corporation (Now WS Packaging Group) and retired from there in 1992. From youth on, Bob maintained a passion for nature and animals. He held a game farm license in his younger years and his avid love for hunting wild game took him near and far. Bob was a former member of Algoma Pheasant Club and a lifetime member of Whitetails Unlimited. His first deer hunt was with his father and friends in 1950, followed by a lifetime of hunting ducks, geese, fox, and mule deer (Wyoming trips) and always anxiously anticipated the yearly turkey hunts and deer season in WI and MI. He gathered sixty-five years of stories and memories and always valued the privilege of hunting. Bob was an extremely knowledgeable and talented man with a quick wit enjoyed by everyone! He deeply appreciated family and friends, treasuring all the time spent with each of them - sharing special memories never to be forgotten. Bob is survived by his wife Gloria (Hartwig) Naze, son West (Lindsey) Naze of Larchmont, NY, and two stepsons Scott Felber of Alliance, OH and Lee (Cheryl) Felber of Rio Creek, WI. Bob's other children include Brian (Linda) Naze of Marquette, MI; Kris Soderman of Portage, WI; Kay Naze of Ft. Myers, FL; Lisa Leahy of Hudson, WI; Karen Naze of Algoma, WI; Patti (Dave) Donart of Algoma, WI; Robert (Pam) Naze of Casco, WI; and Kevin Naze of Algoma, WI; special first cousin, Harlen Blumreich of Seymour, WI; and many dearly loved grandchildren , great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends - too many to list - always remembered.He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, brother and sister-in-law Ferdinand (Fritz) and Betty (Gehl) Naze, sister Marion (Naze) Thielke, grandson Nathan Donart and other family members. Bob "Digger" wanted to convey a very special thank you to Howie, Dan, Glenn, and the famed "coffee group" for the wonderful times over the years. He so enjoyed being with you! The Naze family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Home Instead (Home Care Services) caregivers, Barb and Fairy. Their wonderful care allowed Bob to enjoy his surroundings while he entertained with stories, pranks, and laughter that will always be treasured, to Bellin Hospital Staff, to Unity Hospice for services provided, to Schinderle Funeral Home for assisting in arrangements, and to all the precious family and friends that made Bob's days brighter by taking the time to visit or call, including the community outreach of cards, texts, videos, emails, pictures, thoughts and prayers so greatly appreciated. . Visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 from 2pm to 7pm, at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, with a military service at 7pm and concluding with full military rites at the funeral home.
