Robert FinkRedding, CAOn the morning of July 7th, 2017, a hero passed from our world. Robert Eugene Fink was born on a farm near New Haven, Ohio, on March 3rd, 1924. He was the oldest of four boys and two girls. As part of the Great Generation, Bob answered the call to fight against the armies of tyrants in World War II. He was a tanker in Patton's army that broke out of Normandy and liberated much of Western Europe. During the Battle of the Bulge, in the bitter cold, twenty-year-old Bob found God on his knees. He was only one of few of his company to survive the war, and he too was wounded when he was pulled from a burning tank. Yet he did not seek a
Purple Heart for fear of worrying his mother. After the war, he met his eternal companion, Colleen Hill. Their love endured and grew through trials and hardships for more than 69 years. Though not rich as to things of this world, Bob was surrounded by those who loved him, including 6 sons and their wives, nineteen grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren. He knew us all and was always there when we needed him. Bob was a teacher in Shasta County, California for more than 30 years, who taught many people how to drive. He was a passionate coach, who inspired his teams to victories against larger and stronger schools. Bob, Dad, we look forward to seeing you someday in the worlds to come. His funeral will be on July 17th at 11 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4075 Riverside Ave., Anderson, California.
