Robert Fisher PattersonGreenvilleRobert Fisher Patterson, 93, died Sunday, January 22, 2017.He was born on June 18, 1923 in Rockwell, Rowan County, NC, to the late Robert E. Patterson and Daisy F. Patterson. He retired as Division Controller of J.P. Stevens Co. in Greenville, SC.He was a graduate of Rockwell High School and attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC for three years before being inducted into the US Army during
World War II. He served in the 78th Infantry Division in Europe and was in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. Upon leaving the army, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was an accounting graduate. Later he received his Certified Public Accountant's certificate. In North Carolina he was associated with the public accounting firm of Haskins and Sells. He moved to Greenville, SC where he was an accountant for Cone Mills. Later, he joined the Greenville Hospital System as Assistant Treasurer. He was Past President and National Director of Institute of Management Accountants. Robert was also a Past President of the National Office Management Association. He was Past Treasurer of Greenville Jaycees and Greenville Little Theater.Robert was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Fisher Patterson; his sister, Mary Catherine Williams; and his brother, Rufus Simpson Patterson.He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 65 years, Edith S. Patterson; his son, DeWitt Patterson (Judy) of Greer; a daughter, Robin Patterson Madden of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Patterson; and four grandchildren, Carrie, Michael, Richard, and Lindsay.A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday, January 27, 2017 at Fourth Presbyterian Church. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fourth Presbyterian Church, 709 E.
