FREEMAN, Robert Paul 97 of Springfield, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on October 24, 2016. He was born on February 9, 1919, son of the late Herbert Donald and Myrtle Ellen (Hunter) Freeman. Mr. Freeman served in the U.S. Army, where he fought in five battle campaigns in
World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from Kenosha Transport. He was baptized in 1994 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he had a multitude of friends. There are many who will grieve his loss, including his sister, June Arnett; seven children, Martha and Ronnie Hamilton, Gerald and Donna Freeman, Roger and Terry Freeman, Tim and Sharon Freeman, Bonnie Freeman, Dan and Debbie Freeman, and Judy and Troy Highfill; son-in-law, Donald Hammond; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan, and a daughter, Sue Ann Hammond. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the compassionate caregivers, nurses, and Dr. Jerald Dudney at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions and the Forest Glen Health Campus. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Rose Hill Chapel with Ron McConkey officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11-11:30 a.m. Burial will follow. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
