Froehlich, 81, of Berrien Center, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016.A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 6605 Pipestone, Eau Claire, with Pastor James Bartz officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 3 PM until 7 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. www.starks-menchinger.com. Robert was born on October 10, 1935 in Sodus to William and Ada (Hafer) Froehlich. He grew up as a third generation farmer, helping his parents and siblings at Froehlich Farms. In 1953, he graduated from Benton Harbor High School. On February 14, 1959, Robert married the love of his life, Connie Brant, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sodus. The two of them moved to Berrien Center where they began their lives together on their farm growing fruits and vegetables; cherries were their main crop. Robert loved being outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He loved traveling, specifically to his cabin in Baldwin and to Florida. He enjoyed watching sports, especially high school wrestling. Robert was a proud member of Grace Lutheran Church as an usher, treasurer and board member, Farm Bureau, the Eau Claire Fruit Exchange and The Jolly Boys, a card group in which they enjoyed beer and cigars. He was an avid supporter of the Berrien County Youth Fair, Eau Claire Cherry Festival and Franklin Church Restoration Project. He was a kind, loving, patient, faithful, thoughtful and fun man who was always self-less and never complained. He was best at being a husband, dad, grandpa and friend.Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie; children, Roger (Lisa) Froehlich of Battle Creek, MI, Dean (Karen) Froehlich of Berrien Center and Carla Ruppert of South Haven; grandchildren, Kyle (Jessica) Froehlich, Anna (Josh) Gordon, Ryan Ruppert, Colton Ruppert, Caitlin Ruppert, Chandler Froehlich, and Zoe Froehlich; great-grandchildren, Ava Gordon, Finn & Everett Froehlich; siblings, Fred (Jean) Froehlich, Evelyn (Ron) Keigley, Vernon (Eunice) Froehlich, Virginia (Richard) Kruck, and Helen (Morrie) Vandenberg; and numerous nieces & nephews. Robert was preceded in death by parents, William and Ada; daughter, Gretta Froehlich; father-in-law, Chief Brant; mother-in-law, Irene Brant; and brother-in-law, Ward (Judy) Brant.
