KITTINGER, Robert G. peacefully passed away on November 14, 2016 in Largo. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and best friend to many. He was born on November 4, 1927 in Akron, OH. Robert went on to graduate from the College of Wooster in Ohio with a degree in business. He met his lovely wife, June, at a modeling convention in Ohio. Robert utilized his degree from the College of Wooster while he worked at Roadway Express where he dedicated his entire career. He spent a fair amount of time in Washington, DC where lobbied for the trucking industry. He worked his way up to Vice President and Director of State and Government Relations. Prior to retirement Robert played a hand in the negotiations in the sale of Roadway Express to FedEx. Robert was an accomplished man. Of his many accomplishments he was most proud of being a Kentucky Colonel, charter member of the Republican National Committee, 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner, and an Honorary Member of the Florida Sheriffs Association. Robert loved to golf, and travel with June. They traveled all over the world many times, but his favorite was Japan. They traveled there three times. He loved summering in Ashville, NC, the site of his summer home. Robert leaves behind his wife, June; his children, Stephen Kittinger, Cheryl Kittinger, and Cynthia (Cecil) Byrd; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Robert's honor on Saturday, November 26, 2016, 1 pm at Serenity Funeral Home, located at 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
