ROBERT 'BOB' L GARTNER, 98 WARREN - Robert "Bob" L. Gartner, 98, of Lena passed away January 4, 2015 at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. Bob was born on May 21, 1916 to Emil and Annie (Hudson) Gartner in Waddams Township. He married Elayne Bragg on November 23, 1936 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Warren, IL. Bob served our country in the United States Army as an engineer from 1945-1946. He served in the European Mid-Eastern Theatre of Operations. Bob was a member of the Warren Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and tinkering on things. He also enjoyed gardening, lawn maintenance, and helping others. Bob managed the Stich Quarry for 14 years and then Cox Quarry for 21 years until retiring in 1983. He also owned and operated his own dump truck. Bob was known to be a "Jack-of-all-trades". He is survived by two daughters, Roberta (Patrick) Coleman of Baraboo, WI and Kathy (Rich) Bucknell of Jesup, IA; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, two step-great grandchildren, and 1 step great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elayne in 2011; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren. Pastor Randy Nicholas will officiate. Burial will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Warren. A memorial has been established in his name. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leamonfh.com.
