Robert George Garza was born on February 22, 1961 in Santa Monica, California to Roberto and Petra Garza.
As a child, Robert enjoyed playing with his hot wheels, marbles, feeding the ducks at the Marina, riding his bike and flying kites. He had a favorite stuffed toy elephant which he would carry everywhere with him. He also had a favorite cat, Princess, which was given to him by his fifth grade teacher.
As a teenager and as an adult Robert enjoyed riding his bike to the beach and spending time there to work on his tan. He also enjoyed collecting records, watching movies, the outdoors, listening to music, and singing at the top of his lungs, watching classic shows and football with his sister, and spending time with his favorite dogs, Freida and Coco. He would make sure to take time to visit friends and family who were sick and spend time with his dad, helping to feed him and sharing memories with him.
After high school, Robert worked at CBS Studios-Hollywood for almost 30 years.
Shortly before his death, Robert attended the Regional Convention which he enjoyed so much that he made it his goal to attend future ones. He enjoyed and discussed the Daily Texts and magazines with his sister. He also attended the Memorial each year.
Robert is survived by his father Roberto Garza, sister Lillie Hall, brother Manuel (Lupe) Curiel, nieces Nancy (Frank) Blackwell, Cinthia (Kennedy) Curiel-Herrera, nephews Christopher (Marisol) Hall, Daniel Curiel-Herrera, grand nephews/niece Derek, Dylan, Devon, Eleazar, and Mareli. Robert was predeceased by his mother Petra Curiel-Garza and grand nephew Dominic Blackwell.
A childhood memory from Lillie Hall:
When my brother and I were little, my parents were inside the house taking a nap. Robert and I were outside playing. We found some "paint" and a brush. So we started to paint our bicycles and we got the paint on ourselves, on the freezer, the garage walls, and everywhere...My mom later related that when she woke up we were too quiet so she went outside to check on us and saw all the mess. What my brother and I thought was paint turned out to be tar. My parents had the hardest time taking all that tar off of us, our clothes, the freezer, etc.
