Robert Gist, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Robert was born to Julia Chatmam Gist, July 04, 1952 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He married Catherine S. Gist in 1991.

Robert joined the U.S. Airforce from 1971-1978 and he was employed at USP Atlanta as a Federal Correctional Officer until he retired in 2002. 

Robert is resting in peace with his mother, Julia; his brother, Kelly Jr., and his step-father, Mr. Wilson.

Robert is survived by his wife, Cathy and 3 children: Jewel C. Gist (Keisha R. Gist) of Atlanta, Tarka Diane Gist of Wilson, NC, and Kalesha Austin of Augusta, GA. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Jailah Gist and Aspen Gist; 2 sisters, Deborah (Larry) Mitchell and Wanda D Gist of Raleigh, NC; 3 nieces, Tara Trip (Thurman Trip) of MD, Chantell Gist of Raleigh, NC, and Jessica Gist of Greensboro, NC; 1 nephew, David Lee of Raleigh, NC; 6 grand-nieces, grand-nephews, a host of special friends, and relatives that he admired and adored.

The Gist Family thanks, everyone for their outpouring of love, from gifts, prayers, cards, calls, and messages.
