Beloved husband and father Robert J. Light, 89, passed away on May 17, 2015 in East Tawas with family by his side. Robert was the youngest child of Floyd and Cecelia (Greig) Light, born on Oct. 21, 1925 in Reese. After graduating from St. Andrew's High School in Saginaw, Robert served in the U.S. Army. When World War II came to an end, Robert returned to Michigan to attend the University of Detroit, where he received an engineering degree. Robert married Therese Y. Roy on Aug. 31, 1948. They raised their eight children in Florida and in Michigan, eventually settling in Saginaw while Robert worked for Roycraft Industries in Chesaning. Robert and Therese then moved to Bay City in 1983 after establishing General Housing Corporation. Upon retirement in 1989, he and his wife enjoyed many winters in South Carolina and Florida, while spending summers back in Michigan. Bob fulfilled his passion for music by singing in many church choirs and community groups throughout his life. He also enjoyed golfing with friends, traveling with his wife, playing games with his children and grandchildren, and making them laugh with his many antics. Robert was predeceased by his sisters; Agnes Kunz and Cecelia Westhoven; and brothers, John, Wayne, Norman, Albert and Melvin; along with sons-in-law, Earl Hartman, Doug McDonnell and Kevin McConnel; and grandson, Andrew Light. He is survived and loved dearly by his wife, Therese; children, Brad (Susan) Light, Pam McDonnell, Denise (Steve) Davenport, Kevin (Clare) Light, Renee McConnell, Teri (John) Doyle, Tania (Rod) Kurzawa and Tina Light; along with 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, May 29 at Holy Family Church, East Tawas.
