Robert J. RyanNaples, FLRobert J. Ryan, 79, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home in Naples, Florida. Robert was born on February 5, 1938 to John and Geraldine Ryan in the Bronx, New York, the middle of three children.He graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx in 1956 and served in the Army National Guard out of Fort Dix, New Jersey from 1960-1962. In 1965 he married Frances Gorczyca of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Robert spent most of his working career in the Mining Industry as a risk insurance manager graduating from The College of Insurance in New York City in 1971. That year he left WR Grace and Company for Amax Coal Company where he stayed through 1996 and finished as a Senior Vice President. In the 1980's he served as chair of the Risk Management Society. In 1998 Robert moved full time to Naples, Florida with his wife Fran and began working as Realtor for Caldwell Banker where he stayed until his death. Robert was an avid reader and history buff and also enjoyed golfing and swimming in the gulf with his wife. Robert is predeceased by his loving wife, Frances of New Bedford, Massachusetts who died on June 14, 2015. He is survived by his brother, John Ryan and his sister, Ann Twomey and by his 2 children, James Ryan of Jersey City and Margaret Allan of West Haven, Connecticut as well as his three grandchildren Hannah, Joshua and Jack and his daughter in law, Claudia and son in law, Paul. A funeral mass for Robert Ryan will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, July 21, 2017 at St Ann's at 475 9th Ave, Naples, Florida with a small reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be sent to the American Red Cross.
