He was preceded in death by his parents Dominic Boccaccio and Lorene Dauterman (nee Damm), and his stepfather Roland Dauterman, all of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; and his granddaughter Tracy Hadden Fay, of Janesville, Wisconsin. Mr. Boccaccio was born on June 17, 1928, in Fond du Lac, and graduated from Goodrich High School. He served in the Navy during World War II as Yeoman Third Class and was stationed in Guam. After the war, he returned home to Fond du Lac and worked as Assistant Manager at The Big Shoe Store, marking the beginning to a long and successful career in retail with the Shoe Corp. of America. A promotion to Manager took him to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where he served as chairman of the Stevens Point Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee. He was a member of the Industrial Development Committee of the Chamber, the Elks Club, a Scout Leader, and Babe Ruth team manager. A dedicated coach and mentor, "Coach" knew how to develop baseball talent - three of his players went on to sign Major League Baseball contracts, the most notable being Rick Reichardt, who signed with the Los Angeles Angels and remains a close family friend. In 1967, Mr. Boccaccio was promoted again and transferred to Janesville, Wisconsin. In Janesville, he served as a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club, where he worked closely with the visually impaired. In 1971, he moved south to Dallas, Texas, as District Manager for Gallenkamp Shoes, and then relocated to Alexandria, LA, where he and his wife have resided for more than 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3, and a charter member of the World War II Museum, New Orleans, LA. His continued love of sports led him to umpire and coach girls' softball for many years.Besides being a devoted family man, Mr. Boccaccio was a born retailer, natural manager, stickler for details, and beloved coach. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was known for his quick wit, playful nature, and "Pop-isms."
