Robert (Bob) Joseph Gates88, of Zionsville, IN (formerly of Crawfordsville, IN), passed away Monday, October 30 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Bob was born on January 10, 1929 in Beech Grove, IN to Clyde and Dorothy (Lafkin) Gates. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1947. He served in the US Army and retired from Kirby Risk Electrical Wholesale Supply in 2014 at the young age of 85. Bob was a kind and generous family man with a great sense of humor and unwavering faith in the Lord.Bob is survived by his wife, Jan, of Zionsville, IN; his daugther Maggie (Brent) Seiler of Zionsville,IN; his son, Joe (Teairra) Gates of Murfreesboro, TN; his sister, Sally Sahm of Beech Grove, IN and seven grandchildren, Logan Seiler, Wyatt Seiler, Carson Seiler, Garrett Seiler, Taj Bowe, Cali Gates and Kason Gates.He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bill, John and Jim.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Friday, November 3 at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak Street, Zionsville, IN. Burial will follow at 3:00pm in Calvary Cemetery, 435 W. Troy Ave., Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m.- noon at the church.Bob was one to graciously give what he had to help others.
