Robert Kent Petersen RACINE Robert Kent Petersen, 55, passed away peacefully at Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington on Saturday, September 5, 2015. Bob was born on October 19, 1959 to John and Mary-Ellen (Peterson) Petersen in Palatine, IL. He was a graduate of William Horlick High School and entered the United States Army at the age of 17. Bob honorably served our country in the US Army Special Forces, Green Berets, from 1977-1981. Bob was uniquely driven. Early on, his plan was to live off the land and his focus growing up was to learn the skills that would support that goal. Late in high school he decided he wanted to become a Green Beret, and most thought too late to achieve such a difficult goal. With the challenges to achieve seemingly insurmountable he calmly went about each step required and became a Green Beret. Bob is a loving brother, friend to all, who was always willing to lend a hand or offer help. By the way he lived his life, Bob demonstrated the principal of unconditional love throughout his life. Robert will be dearly missed by his brothers, Eric (Kathy) Petersen, and Mark (Holly) Petersen; his nieces and nephews, Dana, Carmen, Merritt, and Henry; his former wife, Cathy Petersen; and other loving relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary-Ellen. A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Wilson Funeral Home at 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. Interment with full military honors will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Memorials in Bobs honor may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project. Condolences may be expressed at www.wilsonfuneralhomeracine.com. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kind and compassionate care of Bob.
