Robert L. Chiles, 82 of Albuquerque, passed away on April 7, 2015 after a long illness. He was born on July 8, 1932 in Richmond, IN to Roy C. and Bonnie (Hocket) Chiles. He was raised in Richmond and later served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955. He married Della McGeorge on May 11, 1956 in Richmond, IN and they later came to Los Alamos where he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 34 years as a weapons technician. After retiring from LANL they moved to Albuquerque where they have spent the remainder of their time together. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, bowling, hunting and spending time with his beloved grandchildren and was "an all-around great guy." He is survived by his wife, Della of Albuquerque; daughters: Christina Johnson and husband Keith and their three children Samantha, Darryl and Dana, all of Albuquerque; Barbara "Bobbie" Riley and her husband Patrick and their two children Reid and Tori of Clayton, NM; son Richard C. Chiles of Los Alamos, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: William "Bill" and Jack Chiles and sister Nancy Foreman. Graveside committal services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501 with military honors provided by the United States Army.
