CANASTOTA >> Robert L. Dimick, 84, of 400 Lamb Ave., Canastota, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Crouse Community Center, Morrisville, following a brief illness.He was born on June 27, 1932, in Binghamton, N.Y., a son of Elmer and Ratie (Clendening) Dimick. Bob spent his early years in Endicott, attending the Union Endicott schools. He later lived in Syracuse for many years, and has lived in Canastota for the last eight years. He worked for Crouse Hospital in Syracuse for 17 years, retiring in 1997.Bob was a member of the United Church of Canastota, participating in Bible studies at the church and Stoneleigh Apartments. When he was younger, he sang in his church choir.Tiger Bob enjoyed attending sports events at various schools. He also enjoyed watching NFL games, especially the New York Giants.He was a member of the Canastota-Lenox Sr. Citizens Club. Surviving are: two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. Sr. and Lynda Dimick of Canastota, and Rollin and Roxanne Dimick of Ithaca; one daughter, Rebecca and Robert Gower of Cataula, Ga.; one brother, Howard Dimick of Endicott; six grandchildren, Robert A. Jr. and Nikki Dimick, Ronald Tallman, Randy Tallman, Mark Gower, Brittney Perez, and Kelsi Gower; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his best friend, Edward Dodge and his family. Bob was predeceased by three brothers, E. William "Bill" Dimick, Paul Dimick, and Roger Dimick; and one sister, Betty Kommer. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at the United Church of Canastota, 144 Center St., Canastota. The Rev. Charles E. Vollmer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal, N.Y. The family will greet friends on Saturday, prior to the service, from 1-3 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. Bob will be missed by his church family, and in lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the United Church of Canastota, 144 Center St., Canastota, N.Y. 13032, with envelopes available at the church.J.
