Robert Lee SmudrickLenoir City, TNSmudrick, Robert Lee, age 91, Lenoir City, TN passed into glory peacefully on Thursday May 25, 2017. RL was born on March 24, 1926 in New Boston, Texas to Lonnie Oliver and Mae Bell Smudrick. He served his country as Fireman First Class in the United States Navy in the Philippine Islands and was honorably discharged in 1946. He retold stories of his service years with laughter, sadness, tears and sometimes silence. RL married Martha Margaret Terry and together they raised 7 children. He worked as a Ford Automotive Mechanic. RL was seldom idle, raising a huge garden every year, canning and preserving it's bounty, sharing freely with all. Church was important to RL, most recently with Faithway Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret Smudrick; parents; son, Michael Lee Smudrick; granddaughter, Jenna Lynn Smudrick; brothers, Leon and Carvin Smudrick; sister, Norma Lee Jones. Survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Kathy Smudrick, Wayne and Rhonda Smudrick, Carvin and Janet Smudrick; daughter, Deanna Burris; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Art Smith and Martha and David Walden; many precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the mission organization of your choice.
