Robert "Bob" Lee Willis, age 73 of Oswego, KS passed away at Chetopa Manor on July 28, 2017.Bob was born on July 3, 1944 to the union of Glen Ray Willis and Mary Myrtle (Coy) Willis. He graduated from Columbus High School with the Class of 1962. He had lived in Oswego since 1983, moving there from Melrose, KS. Bob worked as a self-employed farmer for several years, and also worked at the KS Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons from 1983 until 2008.He was a longtime member of the Central Christian Center in Joplin, MO, and was currently attending The Sheep Shed in Neosho, MO. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Columbus Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed playing guitar, woodworking and carving, as well as fishing and hunting in his youth.Bob was married to Brenda Jean Denton in 1968. They later divorced.Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Mary. Survivors include one son, Ryan Willis (wife, Michelle) of Oswego; one daughter Amber Krueger of Overland park, KS; two brothers, Don Willis (wife, Alice) of Sapulpa, OK, and Dan Willis (wife, Nancy) of Broken Arrow, OK; one sister, Verla Scott (husband, Bob) of Iola, KS; two grandchildren, Brittany Hill (husband, Sage), and Nicholas Willis; as well as several nieces and nephews.Mr. Willis was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Oswego for cremation. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at Fairview Cemetery of Chetopa at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2017. Pastor Randy White will officiate.Following the service, the family will receive friends at Community Bible Church, 223 Cherry, Chetopa, KS.Memorial contributions may be made to Chetopa Manor or Avalon Hospice in care of the funeral home.
