Roland, Robert M.Robert M. Roland, age 86, of New London, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his residence. Bob was born on September 8, 1930 to the late John and Martha (Voss) Roland in New London. He was united in marriage to Jean Edminster on December 26, 1957. Bob served his country in the US Army. He enjoyed hunting out west and raising beef cattle. Bob worked as an independent insurance agent for over 60 years. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jean; sons, Bruce (Judy), New London and Ned (Amy), New London and daughter, Susan (Dan) Wilfuer, New London; 6 grandchildren, Sarah (fiancé Peter) Roland, Matt (fiancé Katie) Wilfuer, Austin Roland (special friend Miranda), Emily Wilfuer (special friend Dustin), Michaela Roland and Alexa Roland; sister-in-law, Joan Johnson, New London and brother-in-law, Larry Perkins, New London.Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald; sister-in-law, Jane Perkins and brother-in-law, Loy Johnson.The funeral service for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London on Saturday, September 2, 2017. Rev. William Heiges will be officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service directly at the church.
