RACINE - Robert Roy “Bob” DeGroot, 67, passed away on December 5, 2015 at Grand Prairie Health and Rehab Center. Bob was born on May 24, 1948, the son of the late Clarence and Martha (nee: Brand) DeGroot. He was employed at Young Radiator for several years, and then continued his career at Day and Night TV for six years, moving on to establish his own business; Bob’s TV Service. Bob proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Germany as an Armor Recon Specialist earning the rank of E5/Sergeant. Bob enjoyed the special bond and friendship he developed with his granddaughter, Christina, as well as savoring the time he spent with his family and friends. As a youngster, Bob enjoyed horses and enjoyed watching them race and loved solving Sudko puzzles. Bob is survived by his son, Casey DeGroot of Kenosha, daughter, Jaime DeGroot of Silver Lake and the joy of his life, his granddaughter, Christina, which he loved so very much. He is further survived by his sisters, Barbara Weiher, Diane (Thomas) Schaitel and Carol DeGroot; brothers, John (Linda), Richard (Jean), James (Karen), Donald, Raymond, Clyde (Joanne) and Kent DeGroot. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, former spouse, Susan DeGroot and sister-in-law, Charlene DeGroot. Bob’s memorial service will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time.
